Glass Fountains
1. Fountain is splashing or not covering the entire face of the glass…
Every time a glass fountain is booted up, you need to use scotchbrite to rub the face of the glass horizontally while the fountain is running. This helps provide a surface for the water to run over, and pulls the streams of water together. If for some reason the scotchbrite does not completely solve the issue, you can put a small amount (a few drops) of Cascade™ gel dishwashing detergent in a spray bottle with water and lightly spray the face of the glass with the fountain turned off. You must immediately wipe off the cascade with a towel or sponge, and then reboot the fountain using the scotchbrite to pull the water together.

Slate (Nojoqui, Hanging Slate, Triple Nojoqui, Double Nojoqui, Double Harmony, Harmony)
Note** These fountains use the copper water disperser that is soldered onto the copper tent that slides over the top of the slate.

1. Water is not covering the entire face of the slate…
You should use a sponge or a spray bottle to wet the entire slate surface prior to starting your fountain. This will help the water achieve full coverage. Once the fountain is booted up, you need to take a few steps in order to achieve proper water flow.
a. Run a finger along the copper tent where the water is leaving the holes to pull the streams together.
b. Take a sponge or towel and wipe the slate from the face down with the water running.

2. Fountain is splashing or leaking…
Make sure you have fully seated the copper tent onto the top of the slate. It needs to be snug against the face, and the back of the tent should be slid between the wall bracket and the wall (Nojoqui, Hanging Slate, Double Harmony), or between the back of the wall bracket and the glued-on masonite (Triple Nojoqui, Double Nojoqui).

If the fountain has water running down the wall from the back of the pan, most likely you have an old style splash guard, and water is seeping over the back of the fountain and onto the wall. In this case, the you need a new rear splash guard. Note** Be careful and make sure you know how old the fountain is, because there are different sizes and styles of pans and splashguards for these fountains. The instructions included in your fountain note the manufacturing date.

• If fountain is leaking while it is turned off, the pan has a hole in it and should be repaired with silicone, or replaced. Repairing is very simple. Pinpoint the hole, make sure the copper is clean and dry, and apply silicone to the area. Leaks are most likely in the corners or on seamed edges. This is where you should spread the silicone. Allow it to dry for 24 hours.

• Also make sure all connections are secure behind the fountain, so water cannot leak out of the vinyl tubing.

Pump
1. My Pump is not working?
• Can you hear a sound when it is plugged in? If so, the pump needs to be smacked, and the motor will start up.
• Is everything properly attached? (Pump to hose, to disperser, etc.)
• Are there any obstructions in the disperser? These can be removed with a paperclip. Simply push one end of the paperclip into the hole and twist until obstruction comes out.
• "Vapor lock" Try plugging and unplugging the pump quickly several times.
• Increase/decrease the pump setting.
• If the pump has been running for awhile, take it apart and clean it (CLR, Simple Green). Find the cleaning procedure in the pump repair area under the instructions tab.
• If the pump is too loud, a scotchbrite pad can be placed beneath the pump to isolate it from the copper.

PVC Disperser-Type Fountains (Turtle Falls, Moonstone Beach, Waikiki Beach, Yosemite, Michelangelo)
1. Fountain is splashing…
• Make sure the PVC dispersers are pointed in the proper direction (back and down at a 45 deg. angle). They can be turned by hand.

• Use a towel or sponge to wipe across the face of the fountain, starting at the top. This pulls all the water together and helps it flow smoothly.
• If the water is bouncing off of rocks, the pump volume can be decreased, or a strip of scotchbrite can be placed beneath the dispersers to help soak up the water and distribute it more evenly.
• Make sure the frame of the fountain is lowered into the pan enough so that water is not splashing out the bottom or spraying out the sides of the bottom.

Random Notes….
• Always remember these fountains need to be cared for. They cannot be set up and left alone. Compare it to taking care of a car, it needs attention every so often.
• Wipe down the copper whenever you get a chance. This helps preserve the look of the copper by not allowing water to sit on the surface.
• Turtle Wax Hard Shell Wax can be applied to the copper to help maintain its original patina finish.
Re-apply it every 3-4 months.
